Three days after some pregnant women staged a protest in Akure over alleged hike in antenatal fees, the state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party has accused the administration of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of insensitivity.
The pregnant women, numbering over 100, stormed the Ondo State Specialists Hospital, Akure, on Thursday, to protest the increment in their antenatal fees, saying the services were free during the last administration.
But the state Commissioner for Health, Dr. Wahab Adegbenro, denied the allegation, saying the government had not increased the antenatal fees and had no plan to do so.
The Director of Media and Publicity of the PDP, Mr. Ayo Fadaka, said the Akeredolu administration had destroyed the developmental policies initiated by the PDP government.
He said, “Since Akeredolu became the governor, the state has been receding. The government seems not to have an answer to the needs of the people. This is an indication of lack of foresight and it is now clear that this governor and his entire cabinet have nothing to offer the people of Ondo State.
The Acting Chairman of the All Progressives Congress in the state, Mr. Ade Adetimehin, debunked the allegation, saying the APC had come to reform the state.
He said Akeredolu had the love of the state at heart and never planned to make life difficult for the people, adding that the planned hike in antenatal fees was a lie.
